Car wash profits might not seem exciting at first glance, yet one Oklahoma business owner’s latest earnings reveal tells a very different story.
StephentheInvestor, a YouTuber who documents the ups and downs of owning a self-serve car wash, recently shared his February numbers with viewers.
There’s plenty of good news to be had: this was his best month ever since buying and renovating the business.
And according to the numbers he revealed, the revenue jump was driven largely by the unpredictable winter weather.

There was plenty of cash to collect
In a recent video on his channel, Stephen filmed himself making the final cash collection for the month at his self-serve car wash.

The collection covered just two days of business, but it still added a sizable amount to an already strong monthly total.
Before the final pickup, the business had already generated roughly $36,000 in revenue for February.
After counting the latest batch of coins and cash from the wash bays and bill changers, the final numbers pushed the total even higher.

Just from that last collection, Stephen counted 1,813 quarters, which added up to $453.25.
The cash from the bill changers and other machines brought in another $1,246.

When those numbers were combined with the previous collections for the month, the totals became even more impressive.
Stephen revealed that the car wash generated $22,986.75 in cash revenue for February.
On top of that, customers paid $10,530.25 using credit cards at the self-serve bays, along with $5,588 at the automatic wash.

Altogether, the business brought in $38,665 in revenue for the month, making it the most profitable month the car wash has ever had.
According to Stephen, this was a ‘phenomenal’ result, noting that it was $10,000 higher than his previous record month.

Winter is a great time for a car wash owner
Of course, revenue isn’t the same as profit.

After subtracting expenses like chemicals, utilities, insurance, taxes, cleaning services, and repairs, the total monthly expenses came to $11,353.09.
That left the business with $27,251.91 in operating income before the mortgage payment.
Once the property’s mortgage of $3,434.53 was deducted, Stephen’s final cash flow for February came out to $23,817.38.

According to him, the strong month was largely thanks to a winter storm that hit early in February.
Snowy and salty roads tend to send drivers rushing to clean their vehicles, which can lead to surges in business for car wash owners.
So there you have it: if you’ve ever thought of owning your own car wash, these are some good ballpark figures for you.
