After a new Peterbilt truck returned for its first annual service, one mechanic was left stunned by the inordinate number of miles it had traveled in just one year.

Typically, the longest commutes can rack up tens of thousands of miles annually, and by that time, you’d likely be getting a bit tired of the butt imprint in your leather seats.

But for truckers, it’s a different game entirely.

This mechanic might have just come across the most well-traveled vehicle in America, racking up just shy of 700 miles a day.

Mechanic finds truck with the highest mileage of 2025

When it comes to trucks, longevity and reliability are the name of the game, as they need to escort cargo around America without any issues.

So it’s a good job that nowadays, some trucks are recording lifetimes of over one million miles.

However, one trucker will be hitting the million-mile mark in just about four years, as they managed to put just shy of 250,000 miles on the clock in just 12 months.

That’s already higher than some of the longest-range cars in recent memory.

Taking to Reddit, one user posted a short video that revealed a Peterbilt Motors truck had racked up 241,160 miles since he took delivery of the vehicle on January 6, 2025.

The video showcased that the truck only left the assembly line in December 2024, where it was instantly put into the hands of a long-distance driver.

Returning to the garage, the mechanic said it is the ‘most miles I’ve seen in under 12 months.’

Crunching the numbers makes this even more impressive

The model of the Peterbilt truck in question wasn’t revealed, but the beastly vehicle was confirmed to be a day-bed body, meaning there was no room for a bed in the back during shift patterns.

Having run the numbers, the original poster revealed that the vehicle had been running for 4,350 hours, which comes out to around 16 hours a day, and that they would have to average around 55mph to hit that 240,000-mile goal.

Others claimed that it might even be a higher daily graft, making allowances for weekend time off or holidays – unless it was passed to different drivers in between hubs.

The mechanic even revealed that the Peterbilt truck is only averaging six miles to the gallon, though, which makes the fuel expenditure over $120,000.

The record for the highest mileage car in the world currently sits with a 1966 Volvo 1800S owned by Irving Gordon, which has over 3,000,000 miles on its odometer.

By these rates, the Peterbilt truck would hit that mark in 12 years. Be sure to check back in on New Year’s Day 2037.
