An esteemed mechanic has revealed that ‘the most reliable car in the world’ is actually a 20-year-old, unglamorous, basic b***h.

After decades of being under the hoods of cars, greasing engines, and pushing powertrains to their limits, there are few people more qualified to test reliability than a lug nut.

So this spanner spinner has now crowned his most reliable car in the world.

But that’s probably the only award it will be winning…

UK mechanic gives damning verdict on most reliable car in the world

We’ve entered the era where cars border on the supernatural. Some can travel faster than planes. Others have real gold engines.

But these million-dollar rides are in the realm of barbaric, and 99 per cent of drivers on the road will likely favor affordability and reliability over $25k oil change fees.

So, what is the most reliable car of all time? Well, according to one experienced mechanic in the UK, the Ford Focus is a driver’s best choice.

Not only is the Focus one of the steadiest Eddies out there, but it is also the fifth most successful Ford of all time in terms of global car sales – as per CarBuzz.

According to experienced mechanic Paul Lucas, the Ford Focus ignores all of the unnecessary gadgets and is a fundamentally long-lasting machine that will never let you down.

“For me, a 20-year-old 1.6-litre Mk1 Ford Focus is top for reliability,” he said in a column with the Daily Mail.

“It was designed before all the unnecessary bells and whistles came in and even lets you start the car with a real key rather than press a button.”

“I bought mine 15 years ago for £500 and have no regrets.”

What are other reliable cars?

While the Ford Focus takes the accolade of the most reliable car in this instance, there are many other viable bangers.

A recent survey in the US saw the Pontiac Firebird come out on top in the reliability polls.

Other mechanics have put their faith in the hands of the Japanese manufacturers, Honda and Toyota.

On the flip side, you’ll want to steer clear of any stragglers from the Yugo GV range, which is often considered to be the most unreliable car.
