The Mercedes-Benz Vision Iconic concept car EV comes with solar paint.
But the paint job itself does something really cool.
That is because the solar paint actually provides range.
And it generates 7,450 miles of range a year by itself.

Mercedes-Benz shows off Vision Iconic concept
Mercedes-Benz has just thrown the covers off a truly incredible creative project.
And it might just be one of the most beautiful vehicles we have ever seen.
Allow us to introduce you to the Vision Iconic concept car.
And straight away, you can tell that this is far from an ordinary vision.
The design and proportions have been pulled from the brand’s legendary 1930s icons.

It includes a near-vertical grille, an extended hood, and a beautiful fastback silhouette.
But this 1930s design cleverly hides the electric underpinnings.
The aforementioned grille glows with pixels, while the hood ornament lights up.

Interior fuses the past with the present and the future
And wait until you see the interior cabin.
Inside, the Vision Iconic is a velvet-covered palace adorned with glass displays and brass touches.
It is all tied together with neuromorphic computing that makes autonomous driving 90 percent more efficient.
Solar energy truly fuses with Art Deco, forming a manifesto for sustainable luxury.

This project is a love letter to the brand from the departing Gorden Wagener.
The Chief Design Officer created the design to ensure that his ‘Sensual Purity’ philosophy persists beyond his tenure.
Solar paint job powers the project
For most manufacturers, the paint job on a concept car is little more than just that.
It is simply there to make the project sparkle even more than it already does.
But Mercedes-Benz doesn’t do ordinary.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision Iconic concept car has just been unveiled.
And the vehicle’s paint job is actually providing the car with solar power.
That’s right – the paint itself is a major powertrain component.

Under the shiny black surface is solar paint, a wafer-thin photovoltaic skin.
It is this solar paint that can generate thousands of miles in range each year.
With the right conditions, the Mercedes-Benz Vision Icon concept car could be capable of generating an extra 7,450 miles of range just from the solar paint.
Just think about it – a car that is capable of charging itself as it cruises along.
Mercedes-Benz appears to have cracked the code of fusing nostalgic design with the technology of the future.
