One of Mr Lamborghini’s earliest sports cars untouched for 30 years discovered in a Miami Beach garage

A barn find or garage discovery is always a buzz but finding one of the earliest Lamborghini sports cars takes that excitement to the next level.

The stunning 1968 Lamborghini Miura had been parked in a garage in Miami Beach, Florida, for nearly 30 years.

Not much is known about its backstory prior to its late owner, Ron, however, it’s a rare piece of automotive history.

What we do know is that he had to remortgage his house to pay for his dream car.

The Lamborghini Miura sports car

Wayne Carini of the MotorTrend Network was invited by Ron’s widow, Marge, to check out her late husband’s Lamborghini Miura.

After the car had been sitting idle for thirty years, she was keen to sell it to the team of car enthusiasts – and it wasn’t their first rodeo with the rare model.

“It feels like Christmas even though it’s ninety degrees out,” he enthused.

“We know nothing and that’s the best part.”

The barn find

The Lamborghini was sitting next to a Corvette covered by a tarp that Carini was itching to uncover.

“We didn’t really have the money,” Marge shared. “We remortgaged the home to pay for this car.”

Carini explained that, while dusty, as Lamborghini’s first attempt at a sports car it captures a real moment in time.

“He did a great job, it’s an unbelievable and beautiful car,” Carini added.

“There were very few of them built and it’s an early model.”

In similar news, Lamborghini managed to find The Italian Job’s missing Miura after it was lost for 50 years.

Marge agreed that there weren’t many of the sports cars on the market back in 1983, either, and, after a long search, Ron traveled all the way to Indiana for the sale before bringing it back on a trailer.

“I was like wow that is beautiful,” she recalled.

“I was really excited myself because I thought I’d never seen a car so pretty.”

We certainly hope that the team paid a fair price, as three ultra-rare Lamborghini Miuras found in a California junkyard could fetch millions.
