Turbocharged cars are commonplace now, with most sports cars and supercars featuring multiple turbo units, but have you ever seen a Nissan Patrol pickup truck that packs five turbos, more than a Bugatti Veyron?

Well, someone was committed enough to try it, and it was more about having fun than being practical.

Most turbocharged engines only feature two, sometimes three, or even four turbochargers in some special cases.

Man put five turbos in a Nissan Patrol

YouTuber DMO Deejay uploaded a video of himself visiting a friend who had modified his Nissan Patrol to the brim.

This ‘friend’ runs vehicle workshops called UGR Racing, and they obviously had to know what they were doing.

When asked why he put in not three but five turbos in a Nissan Patrol, he replied: “I just needed more.”

For context, the Nissan Patrol initially featured a set of three turbos, and with only just three, it sent out a whopping 1,280 horsepower.

That’s certainly pushing the pickup truck’s limits, but the owner was an enthusiast, so he refused to stop there.

He further went on to add two more to the already overpowered truck.

Does more turbos mean more power? It might.

But at what point does it max out?

We are almost certain nobody has a track record of doing something like this, so you could call it a science experiment.

What the five-turbo setup added, however, was a roaring engine sound that was nowhere near a stock Patrol’s.

More turbos than a Bugatti sadly don’t add that much power

Moreover, he could only accommodate three units near the engine block, so two sat in the rear of the car in place of the Patrol’s secondary fuel tank.

Only a few cars have more than two turbos, and it’s all for a reason.

A turbocharger helps push more air into the engine for quicker combustion — which further makes the car go fast.

Some automakers like Audi, BMW, and Bugatti have their own engines that can accommodate multiple turbos to efficiently handle combustion.

Take the older BMW 5 Series, for example — it features a tri-turbo engine setups that required fine-tuning the powerhouse.

Meanwhile, Bugatti surprised everyone when it unveiled its now-discontinued W16 engine with a quad-turbo configuration in the Veyron.

However, a Nissan Patrol isn’t a performance vehicle built for the track, but having five turbos isn’t about being practical here.

Instead, it’s all for having fun, and the owner certainly seemed satisfied.
