This New Hampshire man accidentally bought two non-running military Humvees from a government auction in an $8,000 mistake.

YouTuber Waldo’s World had purchased an Army M1097 and a Marine M1123.

The plan was to use parts from the Marine vehicle to start up the Army Humvee.

Would these two vehicles end up being a happy accident or a massive waste of money?

Would these military Humvees be an $8,000 mistake or an opportunity?

The first vehicle was an Army M1097, a heavy-duty variant four-door, with a 4,400lb payload.

It was missing seats, doors, an ignition switch, a protective control box, and batteries – so a fair bit.

And then there was the Marine M1123, a four-door with a snorkel and tall exhaust.

It was missing an alternator, a power-steering pump, and a belt.

The plan was to use parts from the second vehicle to start up the Army Humvee.

Waldo admitted that he hadn’t intended to buy both vehicles, but overlapping auctions had led to the error.

Having paid $3,600 for the Army Humvee and $4,500 for the Marine vehicle, he’d spent $8,100 in total.

Not bad, all things considered.

But would he be able to get the Army Humvee up and running again, or would this prove to be a costly auction mix-up?

Would Waldo be able to turn things around?

After installing the control box and ignition switch, he checked the fluids and found they were all at good levels.

However, a lack of oil pressure put a spanner in the works.

Suspecting there might be a possible oil-pump failure or blockage, he tested the oil pump and found it worked fine.

After clearing what was likely a blockage in the oil passages, it was back to working order.

That wouldn’t be the end of the amendments to the vehicle, as a leaking power-steering hose also needed some attending to.

The lighting and fluids needed looking over, too.

By video’s end, the Army Humvee had been restored to running condition, so it turned out to be a worthwhile ‘mistake’.

“The fact I got this Humvee, which is in amazing shape, and I have a parts Humvee, is a heck of a deal,” Waldo said.

All that was left to do now was make the Marine Humvee ‘functionally complete’.

We can’t wait to see how that turns out.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Waldo take on an ambitious project – remember this cheap Maserati riddled with red flags?

Then there’s this Mercedes GL450 that mechanics couldn’t fix.
