Ohio drivers need to take extra care at the moment, as fines are being dished out for something many can forget in the winter months.
As winter drags on, naturally, we may get more and more snow on the roads and our cars, making driving trickier than usual as we take extra care.
But in Ohio, there are rules regarding snow and clearing it up before going out on a drive, and ignoring those could land you with a hefty fine.
However, it is something that many may easily forget and may land them in trouble.

What are the rules regarding snow for Ohio drivers?
Firstly, it isn’t illegal to drive a car with snow on it in Ohio.
But the state does recommend not allowing it to build up on a car and to clean it off as much as possible.
That’s because the built-up snow can present a dangerous situation.
The problem lies with what happens when the snow flies off a car, not snow on a parked or stationary vehicle.

Snow could possibly fly or slide off your car, and perhaps damage the car behind, and cause visibility issues.
If it flies back over your own windshield, it could impact your driving as well.
Ohio’s laws are quite strict on this.
In fact, ignoring them could result in a fine.
Make sure your car is mostly clear of snow
The law states that windows, tail lights, headlights, and the license plate light all need to be clear of snow.
Should this be ignored, there is the possibility of a $170 penalty.
Just a few extra minutes cleaning the car in the morning could prevent a hefty fine.
While it might sound like an inconvenience, it is certainly better than being fined nearly $200!

By keeping your car snow-free, you will not only avoid a fine but also keep yourself and other road users safe.
Snow, ice, and the cold in general can make driving in winter a nightmare.
But it’s easier to navigate when you ensure everyone is as safe as possible when driving around.
