The Ferrari F40 is one of the greatest supercars ever built.

It is considered by many to be the most iconic supercar of its generation.

Many also consider the Ferrari F40 to be one of the greatest cars ever built by Ferrari.

And it now turns out that a Ferrari F40 is being sold for $5 million on Craigslist.

Ferrari F40 is being sold… on Craigslist?

This legendary Ferrari F40 is being sold for $5 million – on Craigslist.

Yes, you actually read that right – somebody is selling the legendary supercar on Craigslist.

This absolutely stunning 1990 F40 is a U.S. spec example.

What makes this F40 example truly remarkable is one thing – the mileage.

According to the odometer, this 1990 Ferrari F40 has just 7,430 miles on the clock.

And it is that incredibly low mileage that has led to an incredible asking price of $5 million.

Ferrari F40 fans will know that this puts this example well above the selling price of other F40s.

Three F40 cars have come up for auction over the past few years, with only one selling.

The one that sold ended up selling for $2,440,444 – less than half of this asking price.

In theory, this Craigslist example should definitely fetch a pretty penny.

It is in pristine condition, and the interior is just as perfect as the exterior.

There’s no indication of how the engine or gearbox runs, but if the visible condition is anything to go by, it should be as pristine as the rest.

Why exactly is such a legendary car up for sale?

At this point, you might be wondering – why exactly is this Ferrari F40 for sale?

Well, it turns out that it is up for sale for quite an interesting reason.

This Ferrari F40 that you see before you is based in Santa Barbara, California.

It turns out that the F40 is part of the assets from a grain and ranching business.

Santa Paula Hay and Grain is a business that went bankrupt quite a while ago.

This F40 is just one part of the ‘significant assets valued between $100 million and $500 million,’ listed in Santa Paula Hay and Grain’s bankruptcy filing from March 12.

So it appears that this supercar is being sold off as part of the bankruptcy proceedings.

At the time of writing, RM Sotheby’s already has a bid of $2,555,000.

It is highly unlikely to reach its asking price of $5 million, but you never know.

After all – a Ferrari F40 is very much still a Ferrari F40.
