We don’t know why this heavily modified Peugeot 504 inspired by Pikes Peak was built, but we’re certainly glad it was.
Created by Peugeot Design Lab, this Pikes Peak-inspired machine is miles away from the original Peugeot 504.
In fact, you’d need to be a serious car connoisseur just to be able to identify it as a 504.
There’s some bad news, though.

This Peugeot 504 is a tribute to the iconic Pikes Peak course
Peugeot Design Lab turned this 504 from the 1960s into a concept racer designed for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Finished in what we’d call ‘bubblegum’ pink with white and blue accents, the car also includes an oddly specific reference to a French hip-hop group known as ‘113’, hence the ‘113’ inscriptions on the roof and the wheels.

The interior, which also features a full roll cage, is a combination of houndstooth and chessboard themes, with pink and blue upholstery throughout.
The rectangular steering wheel that makes the Tesla ‘yoke’ steering wheel look classic is the cherry on the cake.

Ironically, considering this is supposed to be a race car, there’s no mention of what’s going on under the hood.
This, we suspect, is because this was just a funky concept car they designed for fun.
But this also means that, unfortunately, it won’t herald the arrival of an actual production model.

About Pikes Peak
Named after the summit of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs where it takes place, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a hillclimb event where cars are tried and tested on rough terrain and harsh conditions.
The track measures 12.42 miles (19.99km) and has 156 turns, climbing nearly 10,000 feet (3,000m, give or take) from start to finish on (partially) unpaved roads.

Weak cars won’t survive that and that’s the whole point.
Automakers regularly set and break records at Pikes Peak, from Lamborghini to Bentley, and the course also attracts world-class racing drivers.
In recent times, both Ken Block’s daughter Lia and his wife Lucy raced at Pikes Peak in Ken’s memory.
