The late Pope Francis was once gifted a Lamborghini Huracán but donated it and kept using a much more low-key Italian car.

Pope Francis was head of the Catholic Church from March 13, 2013, until his death on April 21, 2025.

The 88-year-old was known to live a humble life, opting to live at Casa Santa Marta – the guesthouse next to St Peter’s Basilica – rather than take over the traditional papal apartment.

In 2017, when he was given a Lamborghini Huracán, Pope Francis decided to bless it, sign it, and then donate it.

Pope Francis was given a customized Lamborghini Huracán

Although the vehicle most closely associated with the late Pope Francis is the iconic Popemobile, it’s not the only car he had.

In 2017, Lamborghini gave His Holiness a Huracán specially built by the Lamborghini Ad Personam customization team.

The special edition Lamborghini Huracán was finished in white and gold and was presented to him by Stefano Domenicalli, Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini.

After receiving the V10-powered supercar, the Pope signed it and then had it auctioned off, so he could donate the proceeds to a good cause.

The special edition supercar sold at auction in 2018 for €715,000 – around $812,163.

The money was used for several good causes, including helping victims of trafficking and the reconstruction of the Nineveh Plain in Iraq.

The Pope chose to use a much more humble vehicle

That wasn’t the first time the Pope had donated a gifted vehicle to raise money for good causes.

In 2014, he was given a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was sold at auction for $284,000. He also signed a Harley-Davidson jacket that was sold for almost $68,000.

When it came to getting out and about, Pope Francis kept things much more low-key and was known to travel in a Fiat 500.

Other cars used by Pope Francis during his papacy included an Isuzu D-Max, and a Hyundai Ioniq 5, as well as numerous iterations of the Popemobile, including a customized Mercedes-Benz G580 EV.
