Creating your own car when you spot a gap in the market might be the long way to go about things, but for one Porsche fan it paid off.
Discovering there was no fourth-gen Speedster, designer Luca Trazzi took matters into his own hands and created a variant of the Porsche 911 Speedster unlike any other in the market.
Inspired by the Porsche Speedster series, this one-off bespoke car combines the brand’s notable style and design alongside a powerful Carrera engine.

Combining old and new Porsche details
From a young age, Italian designer Trazzi had fallen in love with the Speedster series, and even worked and saved hard to get his first Porsche – splashing out on a 1955 Speedster 1600 Super.
After discovering there was no fourth-gen Speedster, Trazzi set about creating his own with the help of Porsche and the Sonderwunsch factory team.
Speaking about his creation, Trazzi explained: “I looked around but couldn’t find the car of my dreams.
“So, I decided to build it myself.”
His starting point was a 1994 911 Carrea Cabriolet Type 993, which would then be built upon to create his unique car.
Unleashing the power of a 911 Carrera RS Type 993 engine
The engine of the bespoke design features the horsepower of the 911 Carrera RS Type 993, which sees it reach from 0 to 60mph (0 to 97kph) in 4.7 seconds.
Reaching a top speed of 173mph (278kph), it generates 296 horsepower (300 metric horsepower) and 262 pound-feet (355 Newton-meters) of torque.
It’s not just the classic and older style of engine that Trazzi used, as he also took style notes from the 1960s for the bodywork and its distinctive yellow hue reminiscent of New York taxis.
Trazzi also added modern touches like four-point daytime running lights, illuminated carbon door sill trims, and a retrofitted Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM).
Finished off in black leather with yellow stitching, the sporty style of this stunning vehicle can’t be ignored and it embodies the classic design the Speedster series is known for.
Getting your own fourth-gen Speedster will take three years
Whilst the sleek design of Trazzi’s creation might be tempting, if you’re looking for your own version then you’ll be waiting a while.
Porsche has kept the specifications of Trazzi’s design under wraps, they can build a similar version but it’s expected to take three years and the price tag is likely to be much more than you’d typically expect to pay for one of their models.
