The motorcade of a US President is massive, with more than 40 vehicles, including The Beast, which is the one you’ll find the POTUS in.

But there’s a catch.

The US Secret Service actually uses two ‘Beasts’ that are 100 percent identical.

This is of course designed to protect the President because that way no one knows which one he’ll be in at each given time.

There’s a reason why they call it The Beast

The Beast, sometimes also called Cadillac One or First Car, is a heavily modified Cadillac that’s blastproof and bulletproof.

It is also hermetically sealed with its own environmental system.

The current model weighs well over 7,000kg (15,400 pounds) and is worth about $1.5 million.

Nothing is left to chance where the safety of the US President is involved, which explains why, for example, the President’s jet is just as secure, essentially a flying fortress.

In addition to that, the motorcade also comprises technology jamming vehicles to stop explosive attacks, roadrunner vehicles, and a hazardous material response unit.

POTUS, the US President, can’t actually drive

Some former US Presidents have respectable car collections.

Donald Trump, for example, used to own a custom built Lamborghini.

The catch is that US Presidents aren’t actually given clearance to drive their own cars.

A little-known fact about US presidents is that they’re never allowed to drive on public roads ever again after serving in office.

This is for safety reasons.

But it’s not all bad for former US presidents.

The Former Presidents Act, a 1958 US federal law, provides several lifetime benefits to former US Presidents, whether they’ve been in office one day or two full terms.

Because they’re not allowed to drive themselves everywhere, they’ve got access to personal drivers wherever and whenever they want them.
