The $1.58 million Prodrive Hunter is the world’s first all-terrain hypercar

Dune bashing in the desert is usually done with a Nissan Patrol or Toyota LandCruiser, but if you want to do it in a hypercar – the $1.58 million Hunter is the machine for you.

The Hunter is made by Prodrive and is based on the British company’s BRX Dakar rally car.

It’s the same beast driven by rallying legend Sébastian Loeb.

Thankfully, the road-going Hunter adds some extra comfort into the mix.

The United Arab Emirates is a key market for the Prodrive Hunter, which is exactly why the company has already opened the order books there.

Plus those epic sand dunes right outside the city are the perfect playgrounds for the Hunter.

With its blend of performance and off-road ability, it’ll no doubt become a favorite of the country’s car-mad collectors.

Using the same twin-turbo V6 as Loeb’s BRX, the power has actually been turned up to 600hp in the road-going Hunter.

Living up to its hypercar billing, it can sprint from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in under four seconds – incredible for an off-roader.

The Hunter is clad in carbon fiber composite bodywork, too. A real hypercar vibe.

But the locking differentials, six-point harnesses, fire extinguisher system, and 35-inch tires aren’t exactly features of your ‘everyday’ hypercar.

First deliveries of the Prodrive Hunter are slated for late 2022.

  • Power: 600hp (447kW)
  • Torque: 700Nm (516lb-ft)
  • Transmission: 6-speed sequential, four-wheel drive
  • 0-100km/h: Under 4.0 seconds
  • Top speed: 300km/h (186mph)

What does Prodrive do?

Based in Banbury, England, Prodrive is an advanced motorsport engineering group that builds and races cars for a range of manufacturers.

The company first hit the spotlight through its association with the Subaru World Rally Team.

They now operate Lewis Hamilton’s X44 Extreme E team and compete in the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship.

The Hunter is Prodrive’s first road car to make it to production following 2006’s P2 concept.
