A Florida man says that a routine Nissan test drive turned into an unexpected confrontation with the local police force after he tried to test out a Nissan Rogue SUV.

American RobbTheCarGuy posted the video onto his TikTok account. The incident occurred after he had road-tested a Nissan Rogue SUV.

The video shows Robb in a very worried and anxious state. He detailed what happened and his dealings with the police after he received a fine.

It is an interesting situation to watch unfold, and one that has now been viewed thousands of times on TikTok.

How the Nissan test drive turned into a police confrontation

This should have just been a routine test drive from the dealership, but it wasn’t anything like that for Robb.

He began the video showing the $160 ticket he received after driving the car.

This was for not displaying a magnetized dealer plate properly on the Nissan test drive.

These are special license plates used when a car is on a test drive from a dealership.

According to Robb, he was out on a routine test drive when a police officer pulled him over.

Robb then explained the situation to the officer after he was pulled over.

The Rogue was in the middle of dealer prep and out on a test drive.

But the magnetic temporary tag was actually secured onto the driver-side rear panel.

This was the only surface with metal, as the liftgate was made entirely from composite plastic.

The officer didn’t believe Robb’s explanation

Amazingly, the officer didn’t seem to believe Robb, and even tried to test-fit the magnetic plate to the windshield of the Nissan Rogue SUV.

After it didn’t stick to the glass surface of the Nissan Rogue, the police officer decided to give Robb a $160 ticket.

The officer would not leave until Robb had gone back to his shop and screwed the tag into place on the car.

However, the flipside to this is that Florida’s dealer-issued tag laws are clear.

In them, they say that a tag must be ‘firmly attached to the rear of the vehicle in the location where a permanent license plate is normally affixed.’

If magnets won’t secure it, the dealer or driver has to find another way to attach the plate.

So while the officer might have reacted somewhat harshly, it’s also clear that Robb could have fixed the tag another way on the SUV.

That meant the officer was right to pull him over, or he could have ended up like this speeding McLaren.

Either way, it proved very costly to the Floridian.
