Here at Supercar Blondie, we are big fans of Koenigsegg.
The Scandinavian giants are responsible for some of the latest, greatest and craziest vehicles on the roads today.
That’s one of the many reasons we’re such big fans.
So, this is your Supercar Blondie beginner guide to all things Koenigsegg.

Koenigsegg: what’s behind the name?
Here’s a nice easy one to start us off.
The supercar company derives its name from its brilliant founder, Christian von Koenigsegg.
What year did Koenigsegg start making cars?
The company itself was established in August of 1994.
After spending a couple of years getting his company off the ground, the Swedes had a prototype developed in 1996.
They then delivered their first-ever supercar at the Geneva Motor Show in 2002.

Where are these cars built?
Thankfully, the company has stayed true to its Swedish roots, and the cars are still manufactured there.
They are built in an old Swedish Air Force base in Angelholm.
In case your Swedish geography is a little rusty, that’s in Southern Sweden.
In fact, it’s only a 90-minute drive from Copenhagen, yet nearly six hours from Stockholm.
We’re guessing that time could be shortened in one of these cars, though.
How many cars are built every year?
Honestly? Very few.
In fact, north of 20 is being optimistic.
However, there are very good reasons for this.
For one thing, the hypercar experts say that it takes around 4,000 hours to build each car.
Additionally, the Swedish giant builds nearly every single piece in-house – and we do mean everything.
That is why they’re so expensive, as well as why so few of them are made every year.
What notable models do they currently make?
At the time of writing, three (that we can count).
Firstly, the Jesko Absolut.
The Jesko is a beautiful, hypercar tribute to Christian’s father, Jesko.
Jesko supported Christian in pouring his life savings into Christian’s dreams to build the car company.
Therefore, it feels like a fitting, almost tear-jerking tribute from the Swedish company.

Additionally, the Regera is still listed online as an active car for sale, despite the entire run of 80 cars selling out eight years ago.
Lastly, there’s the Gemera, an utterly staggering, four-seat hybrid.
What is the most expensive Koenigsegg?
Oh, boy.
If you think Koenigsegg offers sign-up discounts, then you probably best look away now.
Remember that whole ‘4,000 hours, develop everything in-house’ spiel from earlier?
Well, that means that you’re looking at big, big money.
In fact, you’re looking at seven figures just to be in the ballpark.
What is the cheapest Koenigsegg?
Unfortunately, we’re going to have to refer you back to our previous answer.
Because of the meticulous man-power, and the genuine hours of craftsmanship, there is no such thing as a ‘cheap’ Koenigsegg.
Asking what is the cheapest Koenigsegg is a bit like asking what is the cheapest Faberge Egg – there really isn’t one.
If you have to ask, it’s not for you, sadly.
What is the fastest model?
That would be the Jesko Absolut that we spoke about earlier.
According to founder Christian, it is the fastest car that the company will ever build.
The ballpark figure? Around 310mph. Yes, seriously.
A fitting tribute indeed, if you ask us.
And there you have it. That was your complete Supercar Blondie guide to all things Koenigsegg.
