EV giant Tesla is famous for helping to make the shift from ice-engines to electric powertrains global.
From the Cybertruck to the Model Y, the brand’s fleet is at the center of the EV sphere, all over the world, boasting self-driving features and high-tech cabins.
Now, though, it has gone one step further when it comes to sustainable energy sources.
In Asia, some of the manufacturers’ centers have benefited from a certain method to power production, with impressive results projected for years to come.

Here’s how Tesla has gone greener than ever before
Tesla Asia announced some exciting news regarding its huge factory spaces and the means they use to keep the spaces operating successfully.
EVs are the car world’s answer to saving the planet, and now one of the biggest companies on the globe has gone one extra step further.

“From Gigafactory Shanghai to Megafactory Shanghai, from Supercharger sites to Tesla Centers, we are now using rooftop solar panels to generate electricity,” explained the company.
They went on to explain that the implementation is set to reduce over 7,270 tons of CO₂ per year – impressive, right?

The news comes at the right time, with the Shanghai HQ ramping up production after sales of the vehicles that were made in China rose 2.8 percent over 12 months this September, according to Reuters.
So, as the new Model Ys and Cybertrucks are being rolled out, it’s all thanks to cleaner energy production
It’s not the first solar-powered move from the company
The Shanghai centers and charging stations are not the first to benefit from sunshine either, as Gigafactory Texas also uses a giant solar array to power operations.

With Gigafactory New York building solar panels, a solar roof, and other parts for the company’s chargers, it turns out that Tesla has had more than one encounter with the sun’s ability to create energy.
Tesla explained that it designs every single factory ‘from the ground up to run on renewable energy’ which it says lessens the ‘overall environmental impact of electrical vehicle ownership’.
Aside from its factories pumping out the production of EVs, it also produces solar panels, too.
In fact, according to the brand itself, it is ‘one of the largest US solar installers’, having put in place over half a million systems.
Plus, much like the cars on offer, the solar power systems can be linked with an app, which enables you to see how much energy is being used.
With China creating new EV advancements every day, it’ll be interesting to see which concepts Tesla takes under its wing in the coming months.
After all, electricity seems to be shifting into first gear.
