Tesla Cybertruck owners are now being offered a year of free Supercharging.
The American brand began offering the incentive in late 2024 and early 2025.
And it has led to many showing off the benefits of a year of free Supercharging.
But is everything actually as it seems, or is there something else going on?

Tesla Cybertruck owners offered free Supercharging
Being a Tesla Cybertruck owner remains a somewhat divisive experience.
Despite being a mainstay of car culture for the last few years, the EV truck remains controversial.
But Tesla appears to be offering some fascinating incentives to become a new owner.
From late last year, the American EV brand has been offering an interesting deal.
And that’s one year of free Supercharging for all new owners.

And there have been several people showing off the perks of Supercharging online.
One TikTok user parked his Cybertruck at a Supercharger next to a shopping mall and let it charge while he ran his errands.
In this case, the Supercharging stalls were completely free, making the process look seamless.
On paper, a year of free charging might save a Cybertruck driver around $1,000 to $1,500.
Is this deal actually a good deal for prospective owners?
Seems like a very good deal for new Tesla Cybertruck owners, right?
But it appears to be the case that not everything is as it seems.
For one thing, the social media videos online are very sanitized compared to the real world.
Broken stalls, massively long queues, and potential malware are often causes for frustration.
Of course, this experience is only heightened during peak hours.
Then there is the matter of efficiency. Or, more specifically, the lack of it.
Even when Supercharging stalls are free, they are often not as efficient as charging at home.
In another TikToker’s case, they had to wait 40 minutes for their Tesla Cybertruck to charge up from 40 percent.
Then there is the issue of the saving – but is it much of a saving at all?

Granted, saving $1,000 to $1,500 is far from worth sniffing at.
But that is a small return compared to the $72,490 outlay on the starting price.
So why is Tesla suddenly feeling so generous with its incentives?
A big part of this is because of the Chinese EV onslaught.
With the ever-growing dominance of brands such as BYD, Tesla is finding itself pushed out.
In Europe, for example, Tesla has been outsold by BYD for the second time in four months.
It will be hoping that these incentives can turn the fortunes of the Cybertruck around.
