As the pinnacle cars in the Tesla fleet, the Model 3 Performance and Model S Plaid have become titans on the road.
Both showing supremacy in racing performance and luxury, there’s not much separating the two EVs for those who are looking to buy a blistering and comfy ride.
But which is the best?
Well, thankfully, one man in Las Vegas has gathered both vehicles together and run his own tests and comparisons to answer that hard-hitting question.

Testing the Model 3 Performance against the Model S Plaid
First things first, people are obsessed with speed, so it’s time to see which one of these zesty EVs zips away the quickest.
The Model S Plaid is renowned for its dominance on the drag strip, but the Model 3 Performance is no slouch either, taking down challengers like a Corvette C8.
In a video by Vegas Tesla Carmen, the two cars went side by side in a short drag, and even though it was a second-hand vehicle, the Model S Plaid had significantly quicker acceleration.

The user claimed that the Model 3 Performance handled better, though, so while the straight-line speed of the Plaid wins, on the twisty roads, it’s anyone’s game.
But pace isn’t everything.
The Model 3 has more up-to-date software than the Plaid, while the new vehicle gets a longer warranty than its speedier counterpart.
Yet the Plaid has a longer range, a bigger battery, and is more luxurious and spacious in the interior.

The final verdict
All in all, they thrive in different areas, while still being phenomenal rides.
If you’re a gearhead looking for pure adrenaline and luxury, there’s one clear winner.
“The Model S Plaid may be great if you want the fastest thing that Tesla makes or you care about luxury and presence and you’re okay with potentially more risk for reward,” he said.
But if you’re looking for a more well-rounded and reliable car, the Model 3 Performance comes into its own.
“You might want the Model 3 if you want worry-free ownership with a full warranty. You like the agile but fun driving, or if you just want the latest and greatest technology with zero compromises.”

Still, if he had to choose, the Model S Plaid, even in its used status, is the best car.
“The Model 3 Performance, it’s definitely more minimal, but it is new. It is the latest and greatest in Tesla’s technology. But, technically on paper, it is a bit of a downgrade compared to the Model S,” he concluded.
