No rest for the weary…even if they fly a Boeing 747

Today’s story is an amazing insight into life flying a Boeing 747.

And it comes to us from a Texas pilot who is an expert at flying such an aircraft.

Kelsey Hughes is the man behind the esteemed 74 Gear YouTube Channel.

The Texas pilot frequently takes his audience along to work with him.

And it affords the public a fascinating look at the daily working life of an airline pilot.

Hughes’ latest video is no different.

In fact, it offers viewers a look at flying one of the world’s most iconic aircraft.

And that aircraft, of course, is the Boeing 747.

The video starts off in complete darkness with an alarm ringing.

A feeling many of us can – unfortunately – relate to.

The clock says it’s 2:05am.

A groggy Hughes explained the plan for that day.

The first stop was a flight to Manaus in Brazil.

After a few hours on the ground, the Texas pilot would then head to Quito, Ecuador.

The Texan left his hotel before heading to complete paperwork at the airport.

The video then panned to some epic shots of the aircraft.

It included Hughes doing a walkaround of the actual plane itself.

Various safety checks were completed, and then the pilot headed for a nap.

Hughes explained that the crew takes turns to get some well-earned rest during the day.

The crew then successfully landed in Manaus, with some stunning shots of the Amazon rainforest included.

After changing into his uniform, Hughes and the 747 crew then land in Quito, Ecuador.

After clearing security – yes, even pilots have to do that – Hughes makes his way into the city and to his hotel.

He humorously wondered if it was the exact same room that he stayed in before.

Hughes signed off the video by noting that he will, thankfully, have nothing to do on the return journey tomorrow.
