This loyal Canadian man has managed to put in an otherworldly 1,253,070km shift on his Toyota Tercel, but it’s somehow still in mint condition and raring to go for another million.
‘They don’t make cars like they used to’ is a phrase nearly every dad has come out with.
But in the case of Toyota’s old generation cars, your pops might have a point.
Especially when you take a look at this Toyota Tercel from Nova Scotia in Canada, as it has hardly broken a sweat, despite having over one million kilometers of action under its cam belt.

This 1985 Toyota Tercel has over one million kilometers and looks as good as new
Out of the entire Toyota fleet, the Tercel might be one of the most low-key cars, scarcely getting any recognition. But that’s exactly what it wants.
It’s not flashy, it’s not particularly quick, but it shows up for work every day, and in the case of this Canadian man, it never lets him down.
Andy Campbell and his 1985 Toyota Tercel have covered nearly a million miles together, and it looks as if the car had rolled off the court yesterday.

As highlighted on CBC News, the mint-condition car has 1,253,070km on the clock – well, it’s missing the one because the odometer isn’t long enough for that many digits.
But the driver has proof of his first mil – and has had a range of new parts fitted to keep it fresh over the coming years.
Campbell does all of the maintenance himself, fitting new tires and engine parts to the reliable car, making sure he’s got plenty of heater motors and radiator fans in his garage.

He does have a ‘newer’ backup vehicle, though, just in case the worst ever happens to his 1985 car:
A 1986 Toyota Tercel…
The Canadian man has claimed the car will never go up for sale, having been a part of his life ever since 1990, when he purchased it for $2,500.
Toyota bangers are leading the way in durability
This Toyota Tercel driver isn’t the only old-reliable slugger from the Japanese manufacturers to have toured over a million kilometers of US soil.
In fact, one person has hit over 3,200,000 km (2,000,000 miles) in an old Tundra, plodding through Louisiana every day since 2007.
Possibly even more miraculously, one man and his two-million-mile Toyota Corolla, and it’s still running on the original engine from 1993.
It seems like Toyota really is the high-mileage and reliable king of motoring.
