An American woman said that after being given a $3,000 repair bill, she used ChatGPT to get her Honda Accord fixed for just $50.

AI has provided some interesting stories over the past year or so, but this approach to using it has certainly raised eyebrows after TikTok user everything_bylaneise revealed how she’d used it.

Her Honda Accord needed a suspension repair, and a mechanic had given her a quote of just under $3,000, but then the AI tool suggested she use a junkyard part.

Unsurprisingly, her method got a lot of mixed reactions in the comments of her video.

The quoted repair to fix the Honda Accord

The TikTok user said her quote from a mechanic to fix the car was $2,800.

ChatGPT then suggested a junkyard part that cost $50, which suddenly slashed the cost of her repairs.

While she admitted to never doing this kind of work on her car, she did have the tools for the job.

In her video, she looks very at ease performing the repair, and she was able to fix the suspension.

Incredibly, her TikTok video has had over 500,000 views.

Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of replies, and not all of them were full of praise.

But she was able to respond to those criticizing her for her Honda Accord repair.

The criticism wasn’t about the money she had saved

Incredibly, those criticizing her criticized her method of working, not the money saved.

One commentator, called Walt, said:

“WHAT NO JACK STAND OR TIRE UNDER THE FRAME !!?? LET IT SLIP ONCE YOU’LL PAY FOR IT IN A LIFETIME.”

The woman responded, saying there was a tire under the frame to help steady the car.

She also confirmed that she was indeed using a jack stand.

“If you’re gonna try to ‘help,’ maybe adjust your tone,” she said, responding to Walt directly.

While the DIY approach might have been unnerving for some, she clearly knew how to perform the repair.

Jack stands to help steady the car and ensure that if it lets go, the car won’t collapse on the person working on it.

When you’ve slashed your costs by nearly $2,800, you probably don’t care what angry TikTok users think!
