XPeng X2 flying car went on display in Shanghai

The Xpeng flying X2 car went on display in Shanghai, China and wowed the crowd.
The car was shown off at the 2024 Inclusion Conference, which ran from September 5 to 7 on the waterfront Bund area.
The X2 is the fifth-generation flying car developed by the Chinese company XPENG AEROHT.
This will be the first time an X2 takes on an enclosed cockpit design.

As reported by ChinaDaily, not only is the X2 a step forward in the journey toward flying cars, but it’s also an eco-conscious creation.
The two-seater doesn’t produce any carbon dioxide emissions.
It’ll be suitable for low-altitude journeys through the city and would be an asset when it comes to sightseeing and transporting medical equipment.
There are two driving modes on the X2 – manual and autonomous.
In autonomous mode, passengers can expect a simple flying experience, with a start, return, and landing all a button press away.
Earlier this year, the X2 completed another successful test flight when it flew above the central city of Guangzhou.
Needless to say, the X2 is showing a lot of potential and it’ll be exciting to see where it goes from here.
Flying cars – no longer a ‘pie in the sky’ idea
It seems that no matter where you look nowadays, there’s news of flying cars coming up on the horizon.
Alef Aeronautics recently announced that their flying car had already received 3,200 preorders and was set to begin production by the end of 2025.
The X2 and Alef Model A will give each other some stiff competition, that’s for sure.
Alef already has a cheaper alternative, the Model Z, in the works.
Priced at a fairly reasonable $35,000, it’s only a matter of time before we see more people taking to the skies.
If John Travolta gets to have his own planes, surely the rest of us should get to rack up some air miles of our own.
