The 2026 Subaru Outback will introduce a next-generation tech package, including a new 12.1-inch display, upgraded DriverFocus, and new advanced EyeSight driver assist technology.

Subaru introduced the Outback in 1994 and has since sold more than three million units in the US alone.

With more than a decade in production, Subaru is now gearing up to launch its ‘most comprehensive technological upgrade’ in the all-new 2026 Outback.

The updated tech includes new advanced driving assist systems and a next-generation infotainment package.

What’s new on the 2026 Subaru Outback?

Ahead of the release of the upcoming 2026 Subaru Outback, the company has shared details of the vehicle’s tech upgrades

For starters, there’s a new 12.1-inch screen multimedia system, which comes with a higher resolution display, improved brightness, and anti-glare enhancements, offering better visibility regardless of the weather or lighting conditions.

The system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive processor that has a response time approximately two and a half times faster than Subaru’s last-generation technology and features double the memory, increasing from 4GB to 8GB.

The new system is compatible with Google Assistant and comes with voice recognition.

Drivers will also be able to manage a bunch of functions, like climate control and drive modes, on the display.

The 2026 Subaru Outback will be able to wirelessly connect to both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can integrate with Google Maps.

It also comes with high-tech safety features

The 2026 Subaru Outback will debut the latest version of EyeSight, which comes with more safety features and driver assist functions than ever before, including front and side alert braking assist and acceleration override assist.

It will also be the first Subaru vehicle to feature Emergency Stop Assist with Safe Lane Selection, which will signal to the driver with audio, visual, and haptic alerts alongside pulse braking if they become unresponsive.

If there’s still no response, the clever system will automatically slow down and move safely to the road shoulder before stopping. Once the vehicle has come to a stop, the hazard lights will switch on, emergency services notified, and the doors unlocked.

Alongside all of those features, there’s also the second-generation DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which is able to track the driver’s eye gaze, even through sunglasses.

The upgraded and updated system has a higher resolution camera and improved processing powers, so it can detect the driver’s posture, position, and even levels of drowsiness, helping EyeSight to send accurate safety alerts.

It also offers driver recognition features, and will make automatic seat and mirror adjustments as well as change climate preference.

How smart is that?
