When 60 Porsches fired up their engines and rolled through Bury St Edmunds, England, it wasn’t a car meet, but a final tribute to local businessman Adam Reason.

The Suffolk businessman, who ran Reason Porsche in Crowfield near Ipswich, passed away on July 19 after a battle with motor neurone disease.

A lifelong car enthusiast, Reason asked that his funeral be marked not with silence, but with the unmistakable roar of Stuttgart’s finest.

On the day, his friends and fellow Porsche lovers delivered a convoy worthy of his passion.

The sight was nothing short of spectacular: rows of 911s, Caymans, and Cayennes gliding in unison, polished to perfection, forming a rolling guard of honour.

The tribute was organised with the help of Emma Jackson, regional organiser for Porsche Club Great Britain, who said the turnout captured what Adam meant to the community.

“When you met Adam, you were instant friends, you felt like you had known him for a long time,” she said.

“He was just the warmest person, and I think we have done him proud.”

More than 450 mourners gathered for the service, many pausing to admire the convoy of 60 Porsches as it thundered past.

For some, the Porsches weren’t just machines, but part of the bond they shared with Reason.

Jon Turner, a friend of 30 years, described the farewell as ‘a marvellous service full of love for a man who deserved all of that love.’

For Alison Garnham from Ipswich, her first Porsche from Reason was a life-changing purchase.

“Buying a car from Adam helped with my anxiety and changed my life,” she explained. “We are now on our second [car] from Adam’s garage, and have new friends — a new social life.”

Speaking about the convoy, she added: “It just goes to show how special of a man he was and how we all love his family. There is nowhere else I would be today.”
