5 DIY hacks that'll make your car look more expensive than it is

Want your car to look more expensive than it is?

Here are five super easy car modifications that can be done on a budget at home.

Some of these are a bit questionable, but we’ll leave the judging up to you…

1. Carbon fiber wrapping

Want to fake ultra-luxury? Well, carbon fiber wrapping is for you!

This guy bought cheap wrap and used it to cover all the tacky plastic parts of his interior.

This stuff can be used to cover door handles, the dashboard and controllers… and well, anything you want really.

And if done well, it can seriously up your game.

But if (like me) you struggled to cover your school books in an adhesive wrap, you might want to skip this one.

2. Make your calipers pop

This is one for the real gear heads.

If you love your rims, you probably also have a weird obsession with your brake calipers (I know I do).

This modification might not sound like it makes much of a difference, but if you’ve ever seen a car with calipers that pop, you know what’s up!

First up, take your wheel off, clean the brakes with steel wool, use a plastic bag and tape to cover the brake disk and car, and go in with your spray paint.

You’ll want to do a few coats.

Finally, take a step back and admire your work.

One word of advice, try not to get paint on your wheels like this guy did!

Speaking of cool calipers (and overall car) have you seen Sergi Galiano‘s BMW X6?

You can check out all the custom details here!

3. Pimpin’ finishes

Switch out all the plastic covers on your dashboard and spray paint them for a fresh look and feel inside.

Take off the air vent covers, unscrew the plastic dashboard, pop off the dials and unscrew the control panel (it looks surprisingly simple!)

CHECK THIS OUT!

Clean it and spray paint it all before popping it back on.

And ta-da, you have a brand new interior (kind of)!

4. Stitch game

This girl came up with the awesome idea to pimp her car seats with some colorful thread.

Using just a needle and thread from her local crafts store, she followed the lines of the old stitching on her Mercedes.

The end result looks awesome, but be warned, this is no quick project!

5. Switch out your antenna

This is a really simple mod that takes almost no time at all.

Twist off your old antenna and replace it with a smaller, more subtle one.

You’ll be able to find a couple of options online.

This is super simple but gives your car a more streamlined, luxe look.

And please, for the love of all things holy, never use an old coat-hanger as an antenna!
