F1’s mass appeal is about to get a major boost thanks to megastar Brad Pitt’s new movie project with Apple.

Brad Pitt will star as a Formula 1 driver who comes out of retirement to race alongside a rookie driver and other titans of the sport, Vanity reports.

And there’s some serious talent working with the 58-year-old Pitt.

Seven-time world F1 champion Sir Lewis Hamilton will co-produce, and Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski will direct.

With Apple Original Films leading production, Jerry Bruckheimer and Pitt’s Plan B Productions will join Hamilton as co-producers on the F1 flick.

The screenplay will be written by Ehren Kruger, one of three screenwriters who also worked on the Top Gun sequel.

If you haven’t seen Top Gun: Maverick yet, trust us – go see it.

There’s a reason it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97 percent.

It’s an epic action flick that makes us super excited to see what the minds behind it can do when they switch from a fighter jet cockpit to an F1 racecar.

The racing scenes should be incredible.

Plus Pitt, a two-time Academy Award winner, is no stranger to sports films.

He was nominated for best actor at the awards for 2011’s Moneyball in which he starred as the GM of the Oakland Athletics baseball team.

This F1 flick will mark the second collaboration between Apple Studios and Pitt’s Plan B Productions.

Another untitled film is also in production, with Pitt starring alongside George Clooney and Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s Jon Watts directing.

And even though it’s an Apple+ project, the F1 movie will still be hitting movie theatres.

“We’ve got an interesting distribution plan that includes a guaranteed worldwide large-format theatrical experience that then rolls into an exclusive streaming arrangement on Apple TV+,” Kosinski said in an interview with The Wrap.

This new film is yet another sign of F1’s increasing popularity in the US, following the hit Netflix series Drive to Survive.
