Charles Leclerc's stolen Richard Mille has just sold on the black market

Charles Leclerc’s stolen Richard Mille has resurfaced in Spain where it was reportedly sold at around one-third of its price.

It’s very difficult to establish the value of a custom made piece like this with precision, mostly because each piece is unique, but it was worth between $350,000 and $500,000.

But the thieves were forced to accept around $200,000.

Leclerc had his watch stolen a few weeks ago while in Italy, specifically in the seaside town of Viareggio, and the Italian police have been trying to find the watch since.

They eventually concluded that the ‘job’ may have been commissioned and it may have been linked to a notorious gang from Italy’s Campania region.

They also said the thieves were probably unaware of the fact that it was customized and therefore harder to sell.

The timepiece in question is the Richard Mille 67-02, specifically made for Leclerc, complete with the incision of the driver’s name and the flag of Monaco, Leclerc’s birthplace.

In addition to that, the company assigns a serial number to each Richard Mille wristwatch that leaves the factory, making it basically impossible to sell the watch in the open market if it was obtained illegally.

Richard Mille and Ferrari first announced their partnership at the start of the 2021 F1 season and about a year later, in fact earlier this month, they launched the first timepiece that they designed together.

It’s called the RM UP-01 Ferrari, it costs $1.8 million and it is officially the thinnest watch in the world.

It is only 1.75 mm thick, which makes it 0.05 thinner than the Bulgari Octo Finissimo, which previously held the record.
