DeLorean is back with an outrageous off-road concept along with a sleek shooting brake called the Alpha5 Plasmatail.

This is further proof that the brand has gone mad, and we love it for it.

Let’s start with the off-road prototype.

DeLorean calls it ‘Omega’ and it showcases an entirely different design language for the brand.

Most people obviously associate DeLorean with the Back to the Future franchise but the company wants to move on from that period.

The Omega is a mix-and-match salad of everything that people want these days.

It’s electric which is par for the course now.

However, it’s designed as a rugged and ultra-futuristic off-roader with gigantic wheels.

It features pillarless doors that merge into the roof and massive tires with integrated rims.

Unfortunately, this concept car will never see the light of day.

Especially not with those headlamps and taillights.

Still, it is an amazing concept car.

It’s the sort of thing we expect and wish to see parked outside our home in the future.

In addition to Mad Max-style off-roader, DeLorean has also unveiled the Alpha5 Plasmatail.

This high-performance electric shooting brake is clearly gunning for the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo.

It clearly wants to be an ultra-fast and super comfortable continent crusher.

Will these DeLorean concepts enter production?

There’s good news and bad news.

The bad news is the off-road concept is unlikely to happen.

For now, it is just a stylish glimpse into the future of the brand.

The good news is the Alpha5 Plasmatail is a concept car in the truer sense of the word.

It clearly heralds and anticipates the arrival of a production car – especially as it’s a rework of the Alpha5 coupe that’s sed to enter production in 2024.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
