Dubai wants to build a $5 billion Moon-shaped resort

Dubai wants to build a Moon-shaped resort in the middle of the city.

It is going to cost up to $5 billion but city officials expect it bring in 2.5 million guests annually.

At 734 feet, this massive resort will be one of the tallest structures in Dubai outside of skyscrapers.

It will consist of a ‘usable’ circular building and a moon-shaped structure on top of it.

Canadian company Moon World Resorts wants to build the resort and have it ready in as little as four years.

But this isn’t the company’s first attempt at building the resort.

In the past, it already pitched the idea to the city of Las Vegas.

The main building will house wellness centers, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, and office space.

In addition to that, the Moon resort will comprise around 300 private residences available for purchase.

As for the Moon itself, it will be used as a base of operations for companies that specialize in space tourism.

About Dubai’s crazy architecture

The Moon is just the latest addition to the city’s mad architectural plan.

Dubai is famously home to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world with a total height of 829.8 meters (2,722 ft)

There are 18 completed skyscrapers that rise at least 300 meters (984 ft) in height, which is more than any other city in the world.

Dubai also holds the record for the most 200+ meters skyscrapers with 73.

And we’re only just scratching the surface here because Dubai is also home to other insane projects.

You can’t really talk about Dubai without mentioning the Palm Jumeirah, an archipelago of artificial islands shaped like a palm tree.

The city also built ‘The World’, another archipelago of man-made islands shaped like the map of the globe.

That was possibly the craziest thing Dubai has ever done.

And that’s saying something.

And then there’s the Burj Al Arab, the world’s first seven-star hotel.

Construction of the hotel started in 1994 and was completed in 1999.

The hotel is designed to resemble the sail of a ship and it has 202 rooms, including a $24,000-per-night Royal Suite.
