This lotus flower-shaped city in the sky is being touted as the future of living.
London-based architect Tsvetan Toshkov describes it as a “tranquil oasis above the mega-developed and polluted city where one can escape from the everyday noise, stress, and dirt”.

Aptly called the City in the Sky, Toshkov modeled his design from the Lotus flower because of its ability to grow and blossom even in murky waters.
The utopia-like city is designed to sit well above even the highest skyscrapers.

Made up of huge glass and steel structures, they then bloom into lotus-shaped platforms at the top.
And at the heart of the lotus is the receptacle, which Toshkov has designed with hundreds of little mirrors to reflect the incredible nature that surrounds it.
This may be a sky metropolis but it is no concrete jungle.
Instead, Toshkov designed it to be lush with greenery – mimicking the feeling of natural gardens down below.
While the City in the Sky is just a concept with renders by FORMAD, it represents a growing interest in expanding the world’s busiest cities up, rather than out.
Downtown Circle
One ambitious designer this year revealed plans to build a giant circular structure around the world’s tallest skyscraper.
The building, called the Downtown Circle, would wrap around the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, sitting 550 meters above the ground.
Designed by ZNera Space , the circle would house both residential and commercial spaces.
It would even have integrated transport solutions like pods that travel around the outside of the circle at 100km/h.
Sky Cruise
And remember the giant flying hotel designed to ferry 5,000 people through the sky and never land?
Called the Sky Cruise, designers say the flying hotel will have everything you could possibly want in a luxury resort including restaurants, bars, theaters and even a shopping mall.
Revealed by designer Tony Holmsten earlier this year, he said the Sky Cruise would be piloted by artificial intelligence and powered by 20 nuclear-powered engines.
While all are very exciting prospects, the chance of these sky cities actually being built is still very much up in the air.

Called the X2, it was created by XPENG and it’s already flying.
The X2 can take flight for around 35 minutes after a three-hour charge.
