New Range Rover Velar

The new 2024 Range Rover Velar has been revealed on the brand’s TikTok channel.

That’s a big deal in itself, as it’s the first ever exclusive debut of a vehicle on the platform.

What’s more significant, though, is the timing of its mid-life facelift.

Since the Range Rover Velar went on sale in 2017, it’s really only ever gained mechanical updates.

You might recall a plug-in hybrid option was introduced three years after launch.

It may be one of the most stylish SUVs available, but that doesn’t mean a makeover wasn’t needed.

It’s a relatively mild update on the exterior, with the luxury SUV gaining a new grille and super-slim Pixel LED headlights, which provide a technical jewel-like appearance.

The exterior is further enhanced by a new lower rear bumper, dark accents, and LED taillights with a 3D appearance and super-red illumination.

Inside the cabin, the new Range Rover Velar gets a new floating 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen integrated into the center console.

The infotainment system now features Amazon Alexa built-in, meaning you can switch your home lights on from your car – if you’re that way inclined.

What’s more, there’s no longer a need to visit your local dealership, as Land Rover has integrated over-the-air software updates.

The new Range Rover Velar gets other tech upgrades including Active Road Noise Cancellation, for those opting for a panoramic roof.

The seats have been redesigned, too, with new colors and materials, including a leather-free option, to choose from.

The line-up

In the U.S., Land Rover intends to sell the new Range Rover Velar as a base P250 model, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 247 bhp and 269 lb-ft of torque.

A step up from that model is the P400, which features a larger inline-six 3.0-liter unit making 395 bhp and 405 lb-ft of torque.

This mild-hybrid engine also works exclusively with an eight-speed auto and AWD setup, with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery pack underneath the cargo floor.

European customers get the choice of P400e with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The battery has been upgraded from 13.6 kWh to 19.2 kWh, with maximum charging power increased to 50 kW, too.

Diesel versions (D200 and D300) are still available, but the SVAutobiography with its mighty 5.0-liter V8 has made way for a supercharged BMW twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.

2024 Range Rover Velar price

The new range Rover Rover Velar is priced from $61,500 (P250 S) and is available to order now.
