Carlex Design made the Mercedes-Maybach GLS ‘greener’ and louder

How do you make an already visible Mercedes-Maybach SUV even more conspicuous? Simple, you paint it mint green - that's what Carlex Design did.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is a large, bulky and conspicuous luxury SUV but Carlex Design decided this wasn’t enough.

In order to make it stand out even more, the Polish tuning company made it ‘greener’.

Literally.

The elephant in the room here is the ultra-shiny two-tone exterior combining black and a color that’s halfway between mint green and turquoise.

The same green shade was used for the hub caps and, of course, the interior.

Open the door and you’ll find yourself immersed in an ocean of turquoise upholstery.

The ‘minty’ colour was used for the dashboard, the center console and tunnel, and the seats, too.

Carlex also decided to decorate the quilted upholstery with contrast black piping and black stitching.

It’s definitely a love-or-hate kind of thing.

We don’t see how anyone could find this neutral and subtle – you probably either absolutely adore it, or loathe it.

On the plus side, Carlex didn’t really do anything to the body per se.

There are no new diffusers or side sills, no giant rear wing and no flared arches.

Every body panel is original, apart from the new paint, of course.

Carlex also didn’t do anything to the engine either.

Mind you, it’s not like you’ll be left wanting for more power.

Under the hood of the Maybach SUV beats a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 ‘heart’, delivering over 550 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque.

Carlex will only reveal price upon request but it certainly won’t come cheap.

A brand-new Mercedes-Maybach GLS will set you back $165,100 and if you want these upgrades by Carlex, make sure to set aside an additional 6-figure sum.

If not more.
