Wearing the coveted BMW M badge is no small thing, and there’s a lot of pressure involved.

Even more so with the car you see here because this is the most powerful BMW M-Car ever made.

It’s the new BMW XM Label Red, a special-edition version for the brand’s newest mid-size SUV.

Purists will be happy to learn that under the hood of this black monster lives a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8.

It is paired with a 25.7 kWh battery pack, for a combined power output of 738 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

The XM Label Red is definitely a heavyweight, tipping the scales at over 2.7 kg.

Even so, thanks to the incredibly powerful engine, it still does 0-60 in just 3.7 seconds – and that’s supercar territory.

The top speed is 175 mph (281 km/h), it is not limited electronically but it is limited by the car’s boxy shape.

Power is sent to all four wheels and the car be used in EV-only mode with a range of around 30 miles.

In addition to the ‘organic’ V8 soundtrack, the car also has an artificial one, created by Hollywood score composer Hans Zimmer.

Visually, the first thing that stands out is the oversize kidney grille at the front.

It’s painted matte red, offset against the matte black paint of the body.

The interior follows the same theme with with black leather upholstery for the center console, the dashboard and the door panels, with contrast red stitching.

The lower part of the seats is covered in black leather while the upper part is trimmed in red sports fabric, which is a nice touch.

Production of the BMW XM Label Red will begin in August, with prices starting at around $186,000.
