This one-of-a-kind Patek Philippe is over 80 years old but, as you can see, it aged just like fine wine.

It is currently being offered at auction through RM Sotheby’s and the price is mind-blowing.

The watch in question is rarer-than-rare Patek Philippe Ref. 1518, the world’s first perpetual calendar chronograph.

Only 281 units were made in total and 15 of these were cased in pink gold with a salmon pink gold dial, hence the moniker Pink-on-Pink.

Even more importantly, as RM Sotheby’s correctly points out, this is the first time a Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 ‘Pink-on-Pink’ has been offered since first being sold in 1947.

A similar model, albeit with a slightly different dial, was previously sold in 2021.

It used to belong to Prince Mohammed Tewfik A. Toussoun of Egypt and it ended up selling for $9.6 million – nearly four times the pre-auction estimate of around $2 million.

Speaking of which, RM Sotheby’s auctioneers are being rather conservative when it comes to the pre-sale estimate for this particular watch.

According to RM Sotheby’s, this timepiece could end up fetching $5.4 million.

You can buy one a Bugatti Chiron and a Brabus Mercedes-AMG G-Wagen for that price.

The gavel will fall on June 9 in New York City.

We’ll keep you posted with the auction result.
