Lamborghini Lanzador

This is the new Lamborghini Lanzador, the brand’s first all-electric car.

Visually, it’s an SUV with the soul of a coupe.

Lamborghini actually says it’s in a whole new category, and they’re calling it an ‘Ultra GT’.

Automakers have been toying around with the idea of combining the virtues of a 2+2 coupe with the practicality (and bankability) of an SUV for a while now.

And indeed there’s no getting away from the fact that this looks like the Urus.

But it is less boxy, with a low-slung roofline and a longer front end.

Lambo says the inspiration came from three models: the Sesto Elemento, Murciélago and Countach LPI 800-4.

Design wise, the car has a roof height of around 1.5 metres.

But despite this, the ground-clearance is still pretty good.

It also has massive 23-inch wheels which complete the look.

The key question everyone will be asking is, does this feel like a Lambo?

Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, says the concept is designed to combine the soul of a Lamborghini with modern-day technology.

“With Lanzador we are looking into our future without forgetting our DNA,” Winkelmann said.

“The first Lamborghini coupes were sporty, elegant Gran Turismos suitable for everyday use as 2+2-seaters. [This concept] combines new technologies and fearless design.”

The interior is super futuristic.

At the front, the dashboard merges into the center console with a unique Y-shaped bridge we’d never seen before in a car.

The steering wheel is smaller, and the seats are slimmer.

At the back, you’ve got two individual seats, and still enough room in the trunk for your bags.

This is a GT after all.

In terms of material, the Lanzador uses Merino wool, 3D-printed fibers and carbon fiber – and no leather.

Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr says they’re doing more than just slamming an electric unit under the body of an old Lambo.

The Lanzador is powered by a newly-designed powertrain, which comprises two electric motors, one at each axle, thus making this an all-wheel drive vehicle.

It also uses an improved version of Lamborghini’s ALA (Active Aerodynamics) to increase range without affecting performance, perfecting downforce around the corners,

There’s a new front shutter and a new movable splitter, new S-Duct at the front and new air outlets, and new aeroblades to provide additional drag.

The Lanzador is part of Lamborghini’s ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ program, which symbolizes the company’s ambitious goal to transition from electrified power by the end of the decade.

Speaking of which, the production car based on the Lanzador is expected for 2028.

There’s no price yet, but we expect a hefty premium when compared to the Urus.
