Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally unveiled

Just when you thought you couldn’t love the Mustang Mach-E any more, the automaker goes and ups the ante.

The Detroit giant’s just unveiled an all-terrain version of its popular EV called the Mustang Mach-E Rally.

And, as the name suggests, its sole purpose is to be taken off the beaten track.

The Mach-E is already a stylish looking vehicle, but the design upgrade give it an even sportier air than ever before.

Take the revised front fascia for example, which features a unique splitter, built-in fog lamps, and a recovery port with hook included should you ever get stuck.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally has received several other modifications, too, including protective underside shielding and a Focus RS-inspired rear wing.

Oh, and it sits on a set of 19-inch white rally wheels wrapped in Michelin CrossClimate2 tires.

Rounding things off nicely are a pair of racing stripes running up the middle of the hood, and variant-specific decals on the lower doors.

The upgrades aren’t purely cosmetic, though.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally features a tuned version of the GT Performance Edition’s dual-motor power train.

It pumps out 480 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, which is the same amount of horsepower, but 16 lb-ft of torque more than before.

Whereas the GT Performance Edition was made for the open roads, the Mustang Mach-E Rally has been engineered to be quick and agile over rough terrain.

To aid off-road performance, it comes with RallySport Drive Mode that can be activated from the untouched interior’s infotainment system.

The Rally’s suspension has been raised by 20mm for extra ground clearance, and it also comes equipped with tuned springs and MagnaRide shocks.

Sitting behind the white Rally wheels are 385mm brake rotors with red-painted Brembo-branded calipers to improve stopping power.

As to be expected, blasting the Mach-E Rally off-road takes its toll on the battery, with Ford estimating the EV can be driven 250 miles (402 km) between charges.

Ok, this may be significantly lower than the Mach-E’s 312-mile Range (502 km), but it’s still better than the GT Performance Edition’s 235-mile range (378 km).

The Mustang Mach-E Rally is set to go on sale early next year.

Apparently, Ford’s targeting a $65,000 starting price for the EV offroader, but a final number won’t be available until closer to launch.
