Ferrari SF90 XX

Ferrari’s famous ‘XX’ series of cars has always been tethered to a racetrack.

That was until the Maranello-based automaker unleashed the Ferrari SF90 XX.

What is the Ferrari SF90 XX?

The Ferrari SF90 XX, inspired by the exclusive track-only XX programme, is the first road-legal Ferrari to hold the XX name.

Available in two forms – Stradale coupe and Spider convertible – the deranged duo has been given extreme treatment.

Upgrades have been carried out to the engine and aerodynamics, making the Ferrari SF90 XX the most powerful road-going Prancing Horse currently built.

Not only that, but it’s the most aerodynamically efficient, too.

Ferrari SF90 XX design

Literally from the ground up, Ferrari has tweaked the underbody, the side louvres, and fitted a new larger front splitter and wider diffuser.

Ferrari has also added a pair of ‘S-ducts’ on the hood and blown ducts on the bumper.

It’s also been given a huge, fixed rear wing that can be adjusted for either low drag or high downforce.

The front and rear wheel arches have been redesigned, too, reducing pressure in the wheel wells, while inlets behind the cabin and under the wing draw cool air into the engine bay.

To set them aside from the normal SF90, both variants have a full rear-width light bar.

Ferrari SF90 XX power

There have been upgrades in the engine bay, too.

Without getting too technical, Ferrari has polished the inlet and exhaust ducts, while also adding new pistons and machining the combustion chamber to up the compression ratio.

This means the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 now makes 797hp, which is an uplift of 30hp.

But, like the standard SF90, the SF90 XX comes with three electric motors – two on the front axle and one on the rear – providing 233hp of power.

With an overall output of 1,030hp, the Ferrari SF90 XX takes just 2.3 seconds to get to 97 km/h (60 mph).

Ferrari says it’s tweaked the exhaust system, too, providing a “fuller, richer sound”.

Price and availability

If this speed demon sounds like your cup of tea, you’d need to cough up at least $844,000 for the Stradale coupe, while the Spider convertible priced from $932,000.

Unfortunately, only Ferrari’s most loyal customers have been able to access the SF90 XX, and all 799 Stradales and 599 Spiders are already spoken for.

But if you’re lucky, one might be flipped and pop up on the second-hand market.

Customer deliveries of the Ferrari SF90 XX will begin in summer 2024.
