Elon Musk has claimed that the new Tesla Model 3 Performance is quicker than a Porsche 911, which is absolutely massive news if true.

The Musketeer is obviously the biggest champion of his own cars – he’s got a lot invested into them, after all – and he frequently likes to big up the Tesla brand on X.

It must be great to own a massive platform to advertise your own massive car brand to millions of users.

To be fair, Musk has the money to make it happen.

But, are his claims true? What does Musk really think about his own cars?

Well, we have to take him at his word on this one, but there are some key stats from the car company that we can use as a guide.

On the official Tesla account – again, perhaps biased, but also probably reliable – they claim that the Model 3 will be able to reach 60mph in just 2.9 seconds, producing 510 horsepower and a top speed of 163mph (261km/h).

So, it can go – but then, even Tesla’s Cybertruck can seriously shift, as well.

That’s without bringing in the potential ‘Ludicrous’ version of the Model 3.

In comparison, the Porsche 911 can reach the same speed in between 3.4 and 4.5 seconds, depending on which model we’re measuring.

Still, that’s pretty good going.

Also, let’s not forget that the 911 is an absolute classic of a car, rightly occupying a place in the automotive hall of fame.

Even Elon himself used to drive one before he started up his own company.

That being said, the Model 3 – the fourth generation of the Tesla vehicle – hasn’t set out to measure itself against anything other than the previous one, which leads us to some more figures that the electric vehicle manufacturer has released.

According to Tesla, this new Model 3 has 22 percent more continuous power, 32 percent more peak power, and 16 percent more peak torque.

If those things are important to you, that’s pretty impressive.

On top of that, this comes with lower total energy consumption, the brand boasted.

In short, they’re really proud of what they’ve come up with.

So, whether or not Musk’s claims are exactly true – he knows his own cars better than anyone, though – it’s still going to be an exciting machine.
