This forgotten Dodge Turbo Charger concept is about to hit the auction block.
It’s part of the Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum in Chicago, which is currently being closed down.
The Museum’s exhibitions are going to be sold with no reserve as a result of the closure.
And this Dodge Turbo Charger (which happens to have gullwing doors) is one of the most interesting cars in the lot.

Dodge Turbo Charger is one-of-a-kind concept car
This Dodge Turbo Charger concept is a genuinely fascinating car.
It comes with a unique, aerodynamically-focused design and a turbocharged engine.
The front end, for example, looks more reminiscent of that of a plane.
That is because it is aerodynamically sculpted to point forward and down.
The front headlights are also completely covered for the purposes of aerodynamics.

Further back, gullwing doors and NACA ducts are joined by covered rear wheels.
Those features are joined by a sizeable rear, streamlined rump and a wide diffuser.
Upgrades are equally as obvious in the cabin – where eleven different gauges can be found.
What is interesting is that these various gauges span the entirety of the dashboard.
One also finds Recaro seats and a roll cage – and they are joined by a five-speed manual transmission.
What’s under the hood
In terms of the powertrain under the hood, one actually finds some impressive engineering.
This Dodge Turbo Charger concept car is reportedly equipped with a turbocharged 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine.
It turned out to be a preview of the production engine that ultimately produced 142bhp.
Besides the equipped turbo, Dodge supplied the Turbo Charger concept car with a modified suspension with special shocks, springs and sway bars.

This truly one-off car is being auctioned by Mecum Auctions in September.
It previously served as a pace car for the PPG Indy Car World Series during the early 1980s.
This model being auctioned also reportedly starred at the Detroit and Chicago Auto Shows in 1982.
