BMW is one of the world’s largest and most iconic car brands.

The German marque produces a now-iconic staple of vehicles across its range.

A big topic of debate for BMW has been the direction of its design, but it now appears they’re on the cusp of making major changes in that department.

BMW has been famous for its styling since the very inception of the brand.

Even today, cars such as the E30 and E46 M3 are considered modern icons.

The E60 M5 has aged extraordinarily well, and is still a standard bearer of the class.

However, it appears that the Bavarians are undergoing a radical shift in design philosophy.

For a while now, BMWs “Neue Klasse” design has been teased and speculated about.

Newer cars have started taking on more of a futuristic, robotic-inspired design.

What has caught people by surprise isn’t necessarily the overall design change.

Instead, the public has mostly been caught off guard by the speed of the change.

Just yesterday, we covered the world-exclusive unveiling of the brand-new M2 CS.

The current generation 5 Series, for example, was only released in 2023.

And yet several radical prototypes of new cars have been seen in testing.

Reports are suggesting that this “Neue Klasse” philosophy is going to affect the entire range.

Thankfully, there has been no suggestion of a change to the powertrain approach for BMW.

It has been an open industry secret that the M5 will continue with BMW’s powerful 4.4 liter V8.

We expect these sweeping changes to begin with the new, upcoming iX3.

This is scheduled to be displayed to the world at the Munich Motor Show in September.

Following this, the next-generation versions of the 3 and 5 Series ranges are expected.

It is suggested that these will continue with both ICE and EV-powered models.

Mark your calendars for September – because it will give us a massive insight into BMW’s thinking for the future.
