Over six decades ago, a California man drove home in a brand-new Porsche 356C.
Incredibly, that very car still sits in his garage today.
Former Air Force pilot Jim first bought his 356C back in 1965.
And behind it lies a story as amazing as the car itself.

Stunning Porsche 356C found in California
The story comes to us courtesy of the team behind the Redlands Garage, CA YouTube channel.
Jim purchased the stunning Porsche 356C while stationed at Mountain Home in Boise, Idaho.
After making his purchase, Jim broke it in with a 1,500 mile journey to Oklahoma.
He made this trip with his wife and new-born baby in the passenger seat.

The group then drove another 1,600 miles to head to San Francisco, California.
Back in the 1960s, it was all too common for owners to change their cars every two or three years.
Some, of course, kept their cars longer – perhaps for even up to a decade.
Then there’s Jim, who has held onto his car for sixty whole years.
The former pilot’s relationship with the Porsche was interrupted by a couple of tours in Vietnam.
But it is a relationship that has endured for six decades.
What condition was the Porsche 356C in?
Don’t let the dust and cobwebs fool you, because this is not your typical garage find.
The green paint shows some weathering, but the body is completely rust-free.
One thing that is clear is that this car has been extraordinarily well maintained.
The interior is in staggering condition – it is absolutely gorgeous, in fact.

Even the pad and the dash are in excellent condition, and the seats appear to be pristine.
Some wires stick out from under the dash, but that really appears to be the only issue we can see.
We don’t get to see what resides under the hood, unfortunately.
But we know that this Porsche 356C still relies on its factory drivetrain.
The Porsche 356C was produced by the German marque from 1964 to 1965.
It was actually the final production run of the legendary nameplate.
The final run included big revisions, such as disc brakes at all corners and radial Pirelli tires.
Porsche also included the SC-spec engine, which provided 95hp.
It’s clear to see that this Porsche 356C is one of the rarer gems you will ever find.
