Tesla unveiled its Basecamp tent attachment accessory for the Cybertruck five years ago, and after a bit of a wait, owners are finally taking deliveries to see what it really is.

As with just about every Tesla product launch, the tent attachment has sparked controversy among Tesla owners and observers.

While the actual thing might look slightly different from what Tesla showed five years ago, it’s a great utility add-on.

The Basecamp tent seemed like an exciting offering when the world first heard about it — you could take your Cybertruck anywhere, convert it into an RV, and set camp there.

However, the actual thing isn’t perhaps as sci-fi or futuristic as some users expected it to be.

But it serves its purpose — you can take your tent anywhere with you on a road trip and camp through the night.

The first owners who got the Basecamp tent attachment shared real-life images of how it actually looks.

A member of the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, who goes by ‘TownBiz’ — shared his in-depth review of the fancy accessory.

He mentioned that it takes about 10 minutes to set up the whole thing and around the same time to take it off.

Similarly, he mentioned that the entire setup process is ‘fairly easy’ to do for two people.

If you get the Cybertruck Basecamp tent attachment, you will have to take it to a Tesla service center for the initial installation.

Apart from the aesthetics, the shelter materials and hardware used by Tesla are of great quality.

If you can get a good night’s sleep, it seems like a worthy investment.

The Cybertruck is undoubtedly a celebrity when it comes to modern electric cars.

While some people are creating custom wooden variants, others are offering luxury estates with a free Cybertruck.

Moreover, Tesla also promised a ‘Tent Mode’ as a software feature for when the attachment would start shipping, but there’s no word on that yet.

Once it’s available, Tent Mode will automatically level out the suspension whenever you set up camp.

While only a handful of users have shared their experiences with the attachment until now, the tent accessory is up for order on Tesla’s website.

However, you will need to shell out almost $3,000 to get the attachment, and – so far – there aren’t many alternatives for a pickup truck camping accessory.

Although it might be on the pricey side, the Basecamp attachment is still an attractive addition for those who love the outdoors.
