This flight attendant has explained why passengers shouldn’t order a coffee when on a plane.

For some people, having a cup of coffee or tea is how they get the day started.

And if they’re on an early flight, all the more reason to request a cup of joe.

But flight attendant and YouTuber Jamila Lynn has shed some light on airplane coffees that might make you go cold turkey.

The real reason you shouldn’t order coffee on a flight

When you’re getting on a plane, the flight attendants are often the first people you see, greeting you with a friendly ‘hello’.

Throughout the flight, they handle several responsibilities, including safety demonstrations, serving food, and handling emergency situations.

So as you can imagine, they know a lot of the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ of air travel.

Fortunately for us passengers, one attendant has come forward to share some of her tips and tricks.

Jamila Lynn, who is also a YouTuber, spoke to Inside Edition about some of the secrets of air travel that the rest of us aren’t privy to.

One thing she was particularly keen to warn people about was drinking coffee on a plane.

That may seem sacrilegious to some people, who need their coffee to get through the day, but Lynn had her reasons.

“You might want to think about ordering something other than coffee or tea,” she said.

“The [water] pipes are rarely cleaned.”

Inside Edition noted that airlines are only required to flush and disinfect the water tank four times a year.

What other hacks did the flight attendant share?

Lynn also suggested that passengers not ask for help storing their luggage, as attendants don’t get paid until the boarding door is closed.

“We put that bag in the bin, and we get hurt, we do not get to write it off as a work injury,” she explained.

And those pillows and blankets given out on long-haul flights?

Lynn said they get cleaned, but she can’t say how thoroughly they get cleaned, so she said it was best to bring your own.

Speaking of bringing your own, she advised that passengers bring wet wipes from home to give their tables a do-over.

Oftentimes, we think of flight attendants living a luxurious life, jetting from place to place.

But it is a job at the end of the day, and it’s a lot of hard work – Kris Jenner can vouch for that.

A boss got a taste of that when they went undercover on the job.

And with Qatar Airways debuting an AI flight attendant last year, we can only imagine what the job will look like in the years to come.
