The upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV SUV recently pulled a sneaky one, breaking a Hillclimb record after it was entered into an event in secret.
The German car manufacturer hasn’t officially confirmed that the electric SUV exists. But it has just appeared in public at the 2025 British Championship Hillclimb at Shelsley Walsh.
Porsche placed the car into the Road Cars Series Production Electric category at the British Hillclimb. This gave the attending crowds an early look at the car.
Unsurprisingly, the Cayenne EV was rapid off the line, and quick all the way up the Hillclimb, setting a record in the process.

The event took place earlier in June 2025.
The car was secretly entered into the category with no prior notice to the general public.
At the helm of the car was Porsche Formula E test driver Gabriela Jilkova.
Jilkova looked at ease with the electric car as he set off on his Hillclimb attempt.
His run up the hill can be viewed in a replay of the event on YouTube.
As you would expect from an electric vehicle, the Cayenne rocketed off the line.
The commentators at the event remarked on how fast it was, noting that it took just 1.94 seconds to reach 60 feet.
For those who want to watch the climb, it takes place at the 2:36:42 mark in the embedded video.
Porsche presented the electric SUV in a dazzling blue camouflage to hide some of its more extravagant details.
While it’s unclear if it is a production-specification SUV or purely a prototype, the Cayenne was able to smash the Shelsley Welsh SUV record.
It went up the Hillclimb in just 31.28 seconds, breaking the previous record by over four seconds.

Despite its large size and the fact that it will be weighty, the Cayenne looked perfectly at home up the historic British Hillclimb.
Porsche was no doubt incredibly happy that its secret public debut had gone so well.
An electric Porsche Cayenne clearly isn’t too far away, with this test run likely the prelude to a reveal at some point shortly.
The gasoline-powered version of the SUV is set to remain on the market until at least 2030, and perhaps beyond.
