The Genesis Magma is officially turning up the heat with the GV60 Magma.

This bold new sub-brand from the Korean luxury carmaker is fusing raw performance with refined elegance.

This is Genesis’ answer to AMG or BMW M, but with a twist.

Rather than focusing entirely on speed, the company wants its vehicles to have a unique personality.

The Genesis Magma lineup will have a different focus

Rather than chasing lap times or Nürburgring records, Genesis wants Magma to redefine what performance luxury feels like.

The GV60 was chosen as the program’s first production car because it’s the ‘youngest and most dynamic’ model in the lineup.

The company says it’s the perfect canvas for a performance line that’s more about connection than competition.

Genesis’ Chief Creative Officer and one of the key minds behind Hyundai Motor Group’s design renaissance, Luc Donckerwolke, describes Magma as ‘the ultimate Genesis model’.

“High performance that makes driving rewarding, not challenging,” Donckerwolke explained.

Genesis’s Chief Creative Officer added that the moment you step behind the wheel of a Magma model, you’ll be ‘amazed at how your hidden driving skills will come to light.’

Genesis is taking on Tesla

The design is equally captivating.

The Magma Orange exterior, which is an homage to Korea’s volcanic landscape, is meant to symbolize energy and transformation.

Meanwhile, the car’s sculpted form keeps that signature Genesis balance of grace and aggression.

Genesis has already completed the GV60 Magma’s global testing phase in Sweden, California, New Zealand, and Korea.

While final specs remain a secret, many expect it to share powertrains with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, delivering around 641 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque.

The GV60 Magma may be leading the charge, but it’s not the only car that Genesis is working on under the Magma brand.

The company recently unveiled a wild hybrid race car, the GMR-001, in a bid to take on Le Mans.

And Tesla better watch out, because Genesis also announced its G80 magma concept, which is meant to be a rival to the Model S Plaid.

The Magma era is here, and it’s ready to ignite the road.
