Ever wondered what happens when you put a set of F1 wheels and tires onto a tiny 6X6 kei truck and take it across some rough terrain and wild weather?

No? Us either.

But the guys from the Grind Hard Plumbing Co. YouTube channel did, so they went ahead and made it happen.

Alongside the F1 wheels, the mini truck was also fitted with some wet-weather Pirelli tires and put through its paces on muddy trails, sand, and snow.

Taking on unusual and somewhat baffling projects is a regular occurrence for the Grind Hard Plumbing Co team.

They’ve previously built this super-sized Big Wheel using a tractor wheel and created a ‘one-off Monster Chopper’ that quickly drew the attention of the cops

For a more recent build, they took a small six-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Kei truck and fitted it with a set of real-deal race-used Marussia wheels and brand-new Pirelli tires.

Of course, in order to attach the new wheels, they had to hand-build some adapters and spacers that could accommodate the wider F1 wheels.

The team also needed to make a few minor repairs to the truck.

With the repairs done and new wheels in place, the tires were pumped to around 27psi, and it was time to take the kei truck out onto the road.

The guys started by seeing if the tiny truck could drift and, much to everyone’s surprise, it turned out the 6X6 was a bit of a drifting machine.

But to really see what the truck and its new F1 wheels and tires were capable of, the YouTubers enlisted the help of retired racing driver Max Fewtrell, who was happy to put it through its paces.

Fewtell took the truck out onto the sand, where the kei truck performed better than you might think; it managed to pick up speed on the flats and even tackled a small dune.

However, while out and about with the truck, a ‘100 year storm’ hit and halted their fun for the evening.

But the storm also brought along snow, which meant the truck was able to try out a whole new terrain the following day.

Interestingly, the tires performed even better on the snow than on the sand, surprising the team, who appeared to be pretty chuffed with how the whole project went. And who can blame them?

It just goes to show exactly what these high-performance racing tires are really capable of.
