John Cena has admitted that his decision to buy a fake Lamborghini 20 years ago was his ‘worst purchase’.
Considering how much he hated it, it might come as no surprise it took him 20 years to actually get behind the wheel and drive it.
The WWE icon recently appeared on a podcast to discuss a wide range of things, and his love of cars was top of the list.
As it turns out, there was an incredibly interesting story behind his fake Lambo purchase.

John Cena is a gearhead among gearheads
John Cena is one of the few celebrities who is a certified car nut.
You might not be able to see him very often.
But one thing you can see is his utter addiction to all things four wheels.
For one thing, he once got sued by Ford for selling his GT before he should have.
And his daily driver…is a Honda Civic Type R.
Of course, many might assume that this passion was ignited as soon as Cena was successful.
But John Cena’s passion for cars goes back a lot longer than you might think.
WWE legend Cena recently appeared on Club Shay Shay, a podcast hosted by Denver Broncos legend Shannon Sharpe.
And the discussion very quickly shifted gears to the topic of cars.
That’s when he revealed the story behind his fake Lamborghini.
WWE legend buys a fake Lamborghini and faces issue after issue
Back in 2003, Cena’s career was just starting to take off in the WWE and naturally, he wanted to treat himself to a nice car.
Unfortunately, he didn’t want to spring for a real one.
At this point, Cena found a company that specialized in high-end replicas.
They even promised to fit a BMW V12 in the finished product.
And this is where the trouble started for John Cena.
A full two years on from ordering it, the fake Lamborghini finally arrived.
Cena said it was plagued with issues.

“It doesn’t go into gear, the motor is held together with the timing of two Chevy V6s, so everything’s confused, nothing runs.”
The car was subsequently brought to 10 different workshops to try and get it running properly.
And the WWE icon spent what he guesses to be around one-and-a-half real Lamborghinis on it.
What makes it all worse is that Cena finally took delivery of his replica Lamborghini… this year, more than 20 years after he ordered it.
The wrestling legend posted some very cool pictures of the car on his social media.
In fairness, It’s a pretty convincing-looking replica of a facelifted Diablo Roadster.
And the BMW V12 is indeed nestled in the engine bay.
We certainly hope that John Cena is now finally able to enjoy his ‘Lamborghini’.
