A Yorkshire couple turned a Land Rover Defender into a tiny home with a vehicle conversion that cost only $2,000.
They bought a 1988 model for $4,500 and spent months repairing it before starting work on the interior.
Repairs added about $800 to the budget before any conversion could begin.
The project soon gained millions of views online and drew attention from people interested in RV builds.

Land Rover Defender as a tiny home
The couple documented the process on their TikTok account, the.big.green.rover, where clips of the build attracted millions of views.
They kept costs low by spending $430 on timber, insulation, and other basic materials.
Another $390 went on accessories, bringing the interior spend to $1,500.

With repairs included, the total cost reached around $3,500, though the conversion itself stayed within the $2,000 target.
Inside the tiny home, they built a wooden ceiling, fitted storage, and added compact fixtures suited for travel.
The low roof made the space tight, but a pop-out awning increased comfort when parked.
Their TikTok posts showing the Land Rover Defender vehicle conversion quickly gained traction, with one video passing three million views.
Why vehicle conversions are growing
The Land Rover Defender project fits into a wider rise in vehicle conversions across the UK.
More people are adapting vans, buses, RVs, and older 4x4s into tiny homes.
The Defender’s durability and off-road ability make it an appealing choice for a camper conversion.

UK law permits living in a vehicle if it is roadworthy and parked legally.
That allowance, combined with the visibility of social media, has encouraged more people to attempt their own builds.
The Yorkshire couple’s Land Rover Defender tiny home conversion has become one example among many showing that older vehicles can be adapted into practical living spaces.
Now, the converted Land Rover Defender is listed for rent in England as a unique overnight accommodation. So next time you’re in the UK, why not spend a few nights there?
