After finding a Nintendo Switch from Temu for just one penny, the man was shocked by what he got – or didn’t get.
When you think about cheap gaming consoles, you’d do well to find a Game Boy Color or an Atari on the market for a penny.
For a Nintendo Switch to be available for such a bargain is unfathomable.
Yet one person bought a Nintendo Switch from Temu for that price. Or did he…

This Nintendo Switch from Temu was a disaster
Since its launch in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has been one of the leading handheld consoles, rivalled only by the Steam Deck, although they offer very different game catalogues (family-friendly party titles versus high-end multiplayer games of MMORPGS, respectively).
The Switch 2 sequel is even better.
However, if you could land the OG handheld console for a penny, you’d have to leap at that opportunity.
That was the case for one person, who couldn’t believe his luck when spotting one on Temu.
Typical of the platform, though, not all was as it seemed. We know Temu’s reputation.
After buying the Nintendo Switch from Temu, YouTuber Jacob R uploaded on his channel to reveal that the console never arrived in his account, and he instead had to go through an extensive effort to have an $800 Xbox refunded.

Instead of the $0.01 Switch, the app prompted him to buy another product to unlock the discount, and when he ordered an Xbox as well (for another video idea), the creator’s account was blocked.
The Nintendo Switch was nowhere to be found in his account, while the Xbox order was going through.
Then, in the process of cancelling the order, the app reportedly made more purchases, without him clicking on them.
After days of discourse with the customer service, he managed to get all of the orders cancelled, and never received a Nintendo Switch from Temu.
Nintendo has really upped its game in 2025
While it might not be in the business of slashing prices to a pretty penny, Nintendo is up for a huge year in 2025, as its most recent Direct showcase revealed a ton of new projects for the Switch and the gaming industry.
On the hardware front, the Virtual Boy is making a return to the market for the Switch 2, giving players the chance to immerse themselves in the iconic games of previous ages.
Out in the wider Mario-sphere, though, a new film is on the way, following on from Chris Pratt’s debut exploring the Mushroom World in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
This time, the Italian Plumber is getting out of the ‘shroomville and heading to the stars in Mario Galaxy.

Unfortunately for Switch 2 users, the new lineup of games is quite a poor showing, with Hades 2, Metroid Prime 4, and a Mario Kart World DLC being the main attractions.
Still, it wouldn’t be that bad if the console were just a penny…
